If you're staying the night, the Curly Redwood Lodge is a classic — the building itself is made from a single redwood tree, which sounds like a gimmick until you see it. If you're mapping out a coastal drive between Northern California and Oregon, routing through Crescent City gives you a natural stopping point with real options — and the stretch of 101 heading north toward Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor is some of the best driving on the whole coast.
