American Dream Trip
About

Built for the American family who'd rather be on the road.

American Dream Trip turns the dream of a great American road trip into a real, day-by-day plan — without 40 browser tabs and three weekends of research.

Why we built this

Planning a road trip in America is supposed to be the fun part. In practice it's a tab graveyard — half-finished spreadsheets, screenshots of half-remembered Reddit threads, a Google Map with 47 pins and no order, and a partner asking "so where are we sleeping Tuesday?" two days before you leave.

We thought a small team with the right tools could fix that. So we built an AI planner that drinks in the way you travel — the ages of your kids, the size of your rig, the things you actually like to do — and hands back a real itinerary you can drive tomorrow. Not a generic list. Your trip.

What we make

Three things, all of them aimed at the same outcome — you, on the road, with a plan you trust:

  • Plan My Trip — a free AI itinerary you can build in about three minutes. Day-by-day route, lodging, food, gear, and "before you go" checklist.
  • Made-For-You — when you want us (and the AI) to take the wheel. Premium itinerary with curated hotels, photos, and a beautifully designed PDF you can print and hand to your co-pilot.
  • The Store — hand-built classic road trip guides covering all 50 states. Buy once, keep forever, drive whenever.

Who it's for

Families piling four kids and a dog into the SUV. RVers chasing the shoulder season. Overlanders looking for the unpaved version of every state. First-timers nervous about their first big multi-state run. Empty-nesters finally taking the trip they've been talking about for twenty years. If "let's just get in the car and go" has ever come out of your mouth, you're our person.

What we believe

The plan should serve the trip, not the other way around.

Itineraries that read like spreadsheets get abandoned by lunch on day two. Ours read like a friend who happens to have driven it already — opinionated, specific, and willing to say "skip that, try this instead."

America is the destination.

We're not trying to ship you to Europe. The country between the coasts is the most underrated road trip on earth, and we'd like more of you to see it.

Small, honest, fast.

We're a tiny team. We answer our own email. When something on your trip doesn't work, we want to know about it — and we'll fix it before your next coffee stop.

How we make money

We charge a fair price for the guides and Made-For-You trips, and we earn small affiliate commissions when you book a hotel or buy gear through one of our recommendations. We only recommend places we'd send our own families. Every affiliate link on this site is disclosed in the footer of every page. That's the deal.

Want to talk to a human?

We read everything. Press, partnerships, ideas, complaints, photos from a trip we helped you plan — all of it lands in the same inbox and we read it ourselves.
